Description

ECHO is a beautiful classic. The Farallone Clipper class was developed in the mid 1930's for the sailing conditions of San Francisco Bay. Nineteen were built by the Stephens Brothers in Stockton, CA between 1940 and 1964. ECHO is hull #12. She is well maintained, well equipped, and is a joy to sail, capable of sailing up to her PHRF rating. Her bright mahogany hull and spruce spars glisten in the sun, as they did when launched in 1957.

Sails & Rigging

Main and club jib, made by Quantum in 2001, excellent condition. 150% Geneoa by North Sails. Spinnaker: .25oz light air, .5oz standard, .75oz heavy air plus spinnaker staysail all are older sails that are in good shape.
Sail Handling: Jib on Club, "Merriman" #3x4, #2x2, "Barinent" 26x2, #10.
Spars: Mast, main boom, club boom, spinnaker pole and whisker pole; All spars are varnished Sitka spruce.
Mast was out of vessel in 2007, throughly inspected, re-finished, head stay replaced. The Mast was rebuilt approx. 5 years ago. Stainless standing rigging. Turnbuckles are stainless. Chainplates, stainless with keel strap.
Blocks, stainless/aluminum. Terminals, roller swage. Dacron running rigging.

Engine & Electrical

Universal M35 diesel (4 cylinder 30 HP Kubota) with 4500 hours. New Hurth Transmission. 16x15 2 blade Martec fixed propeller installed 2008. 12 VDC including two battery banks with battery isolation switch and upgraded to circuit breakers early 1990's.
