L. Francis Herreshoff’s famed Marco Polo, a 55-foot three-masted schooner designed expressly for round-the-world voyages with small crews. Comfortable, dry and very fast, with an ingenious sail plan that can be handled by one man on a watch. The double-ender lifeboat hull model is non-capsizable and practically unsinkable. Accommodations

Sleeping accommodations for up to seven, with full standing room throughout vessel. Stowage area in forepeak, followed by the head and forward cabin with upper and lower berths each side. Companionway leads aft to engine room and tanks next with full standing headroom. Aft of the engine room is galley area with sink, dish racks, stowage lockers, ice chest, and Shipmate diesel-fired stove, as well as a head to port. The main cabin is furnished on both sides with a transom with stowage beneath and outboard. A folding dining table is on the centerline. Next aft, up steps, is the large cockpit; aft through companionway to starboard is the navigator’s cabin with a single berth to starboard and chart table opposite to port. Interior is simply finished with painted bulkheads and trim for ease of maintenance.
