Description
General Comments About The Boat:
This Aphrodite 42 is a Swedish built sailing yacht. She is in good shape and can be sailed nearly anywhere in the world, actually she already has. The first owner crossed the Atlantic, while the current owner sailed the yacht from the Caribbean to New Zealand, through the Indian Ocean and cruised the Med. The hull is built under Lloyds Register of Shipping Certification for hull construction. The layout of the deck is dominated by is high center cockpit, giving a very secure feeling and staying dry even with very high seas. A spray hood and a bimini is installed. The original awnings to cover the whole cockpit are still on the boat. The sailplan shows the generous areas of the sails giving the boat sail power, even in lighter winds. The rigging is in excellent condition, the last complete overhaul was done in March 2008 in New Zealand. The rig is constantly checked for weaknesses and faults. The masts and the furling mechanism of the main sail is from Selden, the furling mechanism of the jib is from Hood. The sails were purchased in March 2007. They are in excellent condition. Not replaced is the full batten mizzen sail (14 m2), still in good condition. The old main sail, genoa and a storm jib are still aboard as backup. The storm jib can be set on a removable inner stay. The large and reliable Volvo Penta MD31 has never abandoned the owner during his extensive cruising. The engine is strong enough to drive the yacht in difficult situations with low fuel consuming at maybe 3 to 4 lph. This yacht is ready for a new adventure. Where would you like to go?

Accommodations & Layout:
Sleeps a total of seven adults (plus one crib/infants bed). Two heads with shower. The spacious saloon is located forward of the companion way. The salon has a fixed foldable table with a built-in bottle holder and two settees. One of the settees can be extended to a double berth (width approx. 140 cm). Both settees are equipped with lee cloths. The saloon, like all of the interior is skilfully worked in teak and giving access to very much storage space. Aft of the saloon, the galley is to port, equipped with a sink, stove with oven, a 12 V Danfoss refrigerator with front opening, top loaded Sea Frost refrigerator and top loaded Sea Frost freezer. Sea Frost runs off a compressor on the engine, and can also be used when connected to shore power (new 1997). The sink is equipped with salt water, fresh water and filtered drinking water tabs. The galley pressurized fresh and salt water system has 1 tap with hot and cold water, 1 tap used for drinking water which has two filters (one 10 micron and one 1 micron silver filter, removes all particles and kills bacteria), and 1 salt water tap. The navigational table is situated opposite the galley, on the starboard side of the yacht. It is a spacious working place with a bench seating two people. Underneath the bench is a freezer compartment which is cooled by a compressor on the main engine. The aft owner's cabin features one king-size double berth (approx. 220×160 cm) with a new mattress (2007) and a small bench, which can be modified to a crib/infant bed. The guest cabin is forward and has a double Vberth of approx. 190 cm length. Both ensuite heads are equipped with a manual pump toilet, a sink and a shower. There are lockers and ample storage space in both cabins. The mattresses/cushions are all in good conditions. The front head has a normal sized Jabsco toilet, hot & cold water, salt water and a shower with a small pump to pump the used water into the sink evacuation. The aft head has the larger version of the Jabsco toilet, hot & cold water, salt water and a shower with a small pump to pump the used water into the sink evacuation. There is also one shower mounted in one of the aft lockers outside. It reaches out to the swimming platform. The main engine is easily accessible and situated underneath the companion way. A good insulation ensures little disturbance of passengers while cruising under motor. There is plenty of storage throughout the entire yacht.
